Senior Vice President, Research & Development - Worldwide
Since joining Technicolor in 1998, John has been responsible for overseeing THES’ R&D activities related to new products and services as well as the qualification of new technology and processes used in the manufacture of DVDs, and CDs throughout the company’s worldwide operations. In addition, he works with Hollywood studios and other major Content owners to provide technology solutions and help manage their new technology and security requirements; in this role John has led technology and product development activities for 10 years for Technicolor’s 3dcd optical disc anti-counterfeiting technology. Recently, John has led Technicolor’s development and introduction of Blu-ray manufacturing technology from the R&D stage through to mass-production in US, Mexico and Poland.
Prior to Technicolor, John was Vice President of Research and Development for Nimbus Manufacturing. John’s responsibilities included qualifying new technologies and processes used in the manufacture of DVDs and CDs throughout the company’s worldwide operations and directing Nimbus’ R&D activities related to new products and services.
John is a Member of the Digital Entertainment Group Technology Committee, a member of the MEDIA-TECH Steering Committee and a founder of the Optical Disc Manufacturers Association (ODMA). He has 21 years experience in the Optical Disc Industry with Technicolor and Nimbus and holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds and a master's degree in Microelectronic Systems from the University of Liverpool.
